With over 35 year of clinical experience, Gaea brings a integrative approach to the work of psychotherapy informed by insights and research at the intersection of interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, analytic psychology and contemplative practice. Her practice areas include individual, couples and group psychotherapy, clinical supervision and beyond to international humanitarian trauma and resiliency training. She presents nationally and internationally, on the topic of trauma and resilience. In her office, online and when speaking at conferences, she creates a uniquely calm and compassionate atmosphere enabling a deeper dive into the hard work of real, meaningful change. She creatively utilizes complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each patient. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
Gaea is a Fellow of the American Group Psychotherapy Association, the Founder/ Executive Director of the International Center for Mental Health and Human Rights and an alumna of the Harvard Refugee Trauma/ Global Mental Health Program. In 2011, after returning from leading a trauma training for the Tibetan Exiled Health Ministry, she was grandfathered into the Compassion Cultivation Training developed by the Stanford Medical School's Department of Translational N euroscience, at the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education in Palo Alto, California.
Dedicated to social justice and the allieviation of suffering at a global level, Gaea is inspired by an international community of practice. Gaea loves to collaborate with colleagues to bring evidence-based trauma and resiliency training to psychologists, psychiatrists and humanitarian aid workers in wounded communities and refugee settings. Her commitment to furthering contemplative science is central to the robust trauma and resiliency curriculum she has co- developed. In honor of clinical excellence and humanitarian outreach, she is the 2015 Recipient of the Social Responsibility Award from the Group Foundation for the Advancement of Mental Health.
Education:
Gaea completed her Master of Arts Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in San Fransisco, California in 1981 and her undergraduate degree in Transpersonal Psychology from Johnston College in Redlands, California in 1976.
